Layla Review: A Cradling Memory Foam Mattress at an Excellent Price!

It seems like I can’t watch a YouTube video or scroll Facebook without seeing an ad for Layla’s mattress these days! This bed is seemingly everywhere and has rave reviews from many satisfied sleepers. Does Layla live up the remarkable hype around it? Layla is a wonderful mattress that comes in at an excellent price point!

Sleeping on the Layla Mattress

Sleeping on the Layla mattress was an excellent experience for me as a side sleeper. Since this mattress is on the softer side of medium, my shoulders and hips could sink into the mattress, allowing my spine to stay aligned while I was sleeping. Instead of sleeping on top of the mattress, you will feel like you are sleeping in the mattress because it has a good “hug” to it. It offered quite good pressure relief in my hips, which are quite sensitive as a side sleeper.

Unboxing

The Layla mattress comes in a very heavy duty box that stood up to the stress of shipping very well. The mattress comes compressed and vacuum-sealed in plastic. Unboxing and unrolling the mattress with a friend was easy and fun! It took about two minutes for it to puff up and take its shape and in two hours, it was in perfect condition. I have unboxed many mattresses and I must say, this was my favorite one to open! It comes with a box inside that contains a welcome kit, a tool to cut open the mattress and some gifts.

Construction

This dual-sided mattress has one side that is made of firmer memory foam and another side that has soft memory foam. If you are unsure what you want, it is easy to flip it over and try the other side! As a general rule of thumb, you will want to sleep on the soft side if you are a side sleeper. If you are a stomach or back sleeper, you will want to sleep on the firmer side.

Off-Gassing

I smelled only a little off-gassing when I opened this mattress, which is probably due to the fact that they use Certi-Pur foam.

Edge Support 

When you sit directly on the side of the Layla mattress it does compress, which is typical for an all-foam bed. However, in comparison to other all-foam beds, it was more supportive. When I laid on the mattress near the edge, I felt just as supported as I did in the middle. You will be able to use the entire surface of the mattress for sleeping, which is excellent for couples.
