Overview
The 5 Little Monkeys mattress is a twin or full-sized mattress that is excellent for kids who want to get their first bed. The bed includes a mattress protector, a pillow and a very cute stuffed monkey. The cotton in the products is organic. The mattress itself contains 3 different layers. Since this mattress is meant for children, it is quite soft and light weight; an adult who sleeps on this mattress might not find it supportive enough but it is comfortable enough for a night here and there when mom or dad sleeps with a child. The mattress protector is remarkably soft. Most covers that are truly waterproof are noisy and frankly, uncomfortable. I have had the problem of my children removing their mattress protector, trying to get more comfortable in their beds. I have also had other waterproof protectors tear and allow moisture to go down into my child’s mattress.
Layers
5 Little Monkeys’ top organic cotton cover can be removed by unzipping. Underneath the cover are three different layers. The gel memory foam is quite soft and cradling. Beneath that layer is response foam and beneath that layer is a dense foam foundation that gives the mattress its shape.
Washing the Mattress
The cover is quite easy to unzip, remove and throw into the wash! The foam layers are not washable, but I 
did lay it outside in the sun to air it out while the cover was being washed. Afterwards, cover zipped up over the foam layers and the mattress came back together quickly and relatively easily. It took me about ten minutes to put it back together after laundering.
