Overall Impressions
The YogaBed Hybrid mattress is a thoughtfully-constructed mattresses that combines both memory foam and coils for a cradled and supportive sleep experience. Side and back sleepers will find this very comfortable. I am very sensitive to pressure in my hips and the this mattress offered good pressure relief. Back sleepers may prefer a firmer mattress than this one in order to keep their spine aligned. This mattress also sleeps quite cool; it was specifically engineered to help people to not sleep hot.The Yogasleep Coolgel Mattress is a wonderful, classic memory foam experience. You will feel like you are sinking “into” the mattress when you sleep in it, which gives you excellent motion isolation. This is also very good for people who want pressure relief. Lastly, the copper-infused memory foam is specifically engineered to conduct heat away from the sleeper, which results in incredibly cool sleep!
Construction
The YogaBed hybrid mattress is constructed of many different layers, most notably the layers of memory foam and coils. This gives you a traditional “bouncy” mattress feeling, but the memory foam allows you to “sink in” a little bit. The memory foam has been specifically constructed to sleep cool since it is infused with copper and conducts heat away from your body instead of
trapping it. The outer cover of the mattress is actually cool to the touch! It can be removed and laundered, which quite rare for a hybrid mattress.
The Yogabed Coolgel memory foam mattress is constructed with many layers, most notably the copper-infused memory foam and gel swirl memory foam. The cover is actually zip-able and can be removed for easy washing, a very rare feature in mattresses! I also loved that this mattress has handles, which makes it easy to rotate the mattress.
Fiberglass
Many eco-minded people have concerns over mattresses using fiberglass to pass the strict flame tests required of beds before they hit the market. Fiberglass can irritate your skin and lungs. YogaBed does not use ANY fiberglass in their products! To learn more, read the press release their production partner released about how they pass their flame tests.
Motion Transfer
I slept on the hybrid mattress next to my husband and there was some motion transfer but I did not feel much movement while I was asleep, and I am a light sleeper. This is due to the coils in the bed, which are designed to give a little bounce.
The Yogabed Coolgel model doesn’t contain springs, which made the motion isolation extremely minimal! People looking for very good motion isolation will prefer the mattress without springs.
Off-Gassing
I smelled only a little bit of off-gassing when I opened this mattress, but it disappeared after two days.
The edge support of the hybrid bed is excellent. It only compressed a bit when I sat directly on it. Couples will find that they can use the entire surface of the bed for sleeping because there is no compression when you lay flat on the mattress.
The Coolgel model does compress quite a bit when you sit directly on the edge. However, when laying on the mattress, I didn’t experience very much compression of the sides at all.
Does it Sleep Hot?
The YogaSleep Hybrid mattress slept quite cool, which is due to the fact that they use copper-infused foam that has been specifically engineered to conduct heat away from the sleeper. The Coolgel model sleeps even cooler! I must say, I have slept on many beds that contain memory foam and this is the coolest I have ever slept!
Don’t Just Take My Word for It
One reviewer left this comment that perfectly sums up what I think of this brand:
This hybrid is the perfect mix of memory foam and coils. The bed is comfortable and feels like a memory foam bed, given the memory foam is on top of the coils. I love the extra support of the coils, especially on the sides of the bed.
I am on a hot sleeper and I get overheated which causes me to wake up a few times a night. I could DEFINITELY tell a difference with the hybrid ultra cool. The mattress cover is cooling and feels cooler to the touch. I have seen a noticeable difference in the temperature and can sleep throughout the night now without waking up from over heating.
You can sleep on the YogaBed Hybrid and Yogasleep Coolgel for 101 nights and decide for yourself whether this is the bed for you. This hybrid starts at 1339 for a queen, which the Coolgel model starts at 1449 for a queen.
