Searching for a new mattress online can be overwhelming. Sleeping on Sleepiphany
Overall, I felt very comfortable sleeping on the Sleepiphany mattress. Sleepiphany includes “recipe cards” that tell you in which order you should stack the layers to achieve the firmness you want in your mattress. As a side sleeper, I chose the medium and responsive combination since I am especially sensitive to pressure in my hips. In this configuration, the latex layer is at the top and there is some bounce. The pressure relief was excellent! My husband prefers a firmer sleeping surface and chose the firm and contouring configuration. He felt very supported and comfortable throughout the night. In addition, the layer he slept on has excellent cooling properties; neither of us “slept hot” on it.
Unboxing
The mattress was compressed in plastic and shipped in a high quality cardboard box. It took two people to carry it upstairs to my bedroom and unwrap. The mattress immediately took shape after removing the plastic and was ready for sleeping on that evening.
Construction
This mattress comes with interchangeable layers that include: the flex layer, for bounce and pressure relief; the chill layer, to control temperature; the dream layers 1 and 2, to adjust the bounce; and the tight layer, which adds firmness.
Motion Transfer
The Sleepiphany has very little motion transfer. I slept on this mattress next to my husband and there was hardly any motion transfer, which is helpful if one partner tends to toss and turn in the night.
Off-Gassing
I detected a slight plastic-y smell when I opened this mattress, which dissipated after an hour with the window of my bedroom open. This is probably due to the fact that they use Certi-Pur foam.
Edge Support
When you sit directly on the side of this mattress, it does compress. When I laid on the mattress near the
edge, I felt just as supported as I did in the middle. You will be able to use the entire surface of the mattress for sleeping, which is excellent for couples.
