Molecule Mattress: Delivering a Quick Recovery for Athletes

I recently had the pleasure of sleeping on the new MOLECULE 1 mattress. Sleeping on Molecule 

Overall, I felt very comfortable sleeping on the Molecule mattress. As a side sleeper, I am especially sensitive to pressure in my hips and the pressure relief was fantastic. I love the feeling of memory foam; I slightly sunk into the mattress but I did not have a “quicksand” feeling. I did not feel like I was necessarily sleeping in the mattress, yet I felt very contoured and cradled. This mattress does trap a little bit of heat, which is a common feature of memory foam. “Hot sleepers” should keep this in mind when considering this mattress but people who don’t sleep hot will probably be comfortable.

Unboxing

The mattress was compressed in plastic and shipped in a high quality cardboard box. It took two people to carry it upstairs to my bedroom and unwrap. The mattress immediately took shape after removing the plastic and was ready for sleeping on that evening.

Construction

The MOLECULE is an all foam mattress but has three distinct layers. The foam they use is air-engineered to have 3 times the airflow than traditional foams! The cover is made of polyester but it is surprisingly thick and durable for this price point. Underneath, there is a two inch layer of memory foam. This layer is contouring and is the first layer you will feel and sink into. Beneath the comfort layer is three inches of poly foam. It is firmer than the layer above and is quite supportive. The base of the mattress is seven inches of high density poly foam, a pretty standard foundation used in all-foam mattresses. This gives the mattress its overall shape and support to the layers above. This mattress uses zones for a softer feel at the head and feet while giving more support to your core.

Motion Transfer

This MOLECULE does not have much bounce to it, which is quite common among memory foam mattresses. The advantage to non-bouncy mattresses is that they have very little motion transfer. I slept on this mattress next to my husband and there was hardly any motion transfer, which is helpful if one partner tends to toss and turn in the night.

Off-Gassing

I smelled absolutely no off-gassing when I opened this mattress, which is probably due to the fact that they use many eco-friendly materials, including Certi-Pur foam. MOLECULE mattresses are fabricated virtually emissions-free. Variable Pressure Foaming VPF™ is the most environmentally-friendly foam manufacturing process.

Edge Support

When you sit directly on the side of this mattress, it does compress.  When I laid on the mattress near the edge, I felt just as supported as I did in the middle. You will be able to use the entire surface of the mattress for sleeping, which is excellent for couples.

Sateen Sheets

MOLECULE Sateen sheets are about half cotton and half TENCEL. They are soft and fine. They sleep very cool! They feel luxurious and smooth even after I slept on them for a month and washed them a few times. The sheet set comes with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and two pillow cases.
