What Does it Feel Like to Sleep Under a Cloud? Try the Buffy Breeze!

Part of my job is sleeping on mattresses in order to help people find the perfect bed. I have slept on latex, springs, wool, cotton and even feathers! I think I may have found the perfect mattress for me, but I am still on the hunt for the most luxurious bedding. Buffy sent me their Breeze comforter to try out and I must say, it really does feel like sleeping under a cloud!

Buffy is different from many comforters I have tried because the fabric is made of eucalyptus, not cotton.
I was excited to try something made from eucalyptus because conventional cotton is so dirty.

Why the Concern Over Cotton?

Some of you may be wondering why we should be worried about cotton and its effect on the environment;
it’s a natural fiber isn’t it? Conventional cotton is considered one of the world’s dirtiest crops because of its toll on the water, soil, air and people who live near cotton farms. The enormous amounts of pesticides required to successfully grow cotton often run off into water. Contaminated cottonseed can get into livestock feed.  Cotton covers a very small amount of the the world’s farmland, yet it accounts for 24% of the world’s insecticide market and 11% of sale of global pesticides!

How is Buffy Eco-Friendly?

In addition to being softer than cotton, eucalyptus fiber is much less wasteful. Made from a renewable plant, it uses 10x less water to cultivate and is produced in a closed-loop system that reuses 99% of solvents. In addition, the filling inside of this comforter is made partly of recycled plastic bottles! In addition, the Buffy comforter’s fibers are Oeko-Tex certified. Lastly, I am thrilled that this material is hypoallergenic and hyper-resistant to microbes, mites, and allergens. Two members of my family suffer from allergies and we are always on the lookout for textiles that do not irritate this condition.

What Did It Feel Like to Sleep Under the Buffy?

The Buffy Breeze comforter was extremely soft and smooth. Even though it is made of eucalyptus, it does not have any fragrance; it has a very neutral scent and I smelled no off-gassing. Luxury comforters are often very, very warm and trap heat. However, this blanket breathes and slept quite cool through the night! This might be the perfect blanket for people who love the cuddly feel of a big blanket but don’t want to sleep hot.

Pricing and Trial
