DreamFoam’s Aspen Latex Mattress Review: Reasons to Buy (or avoid!)

DreamFoam Bedding’s Elements Latex mattress, formerly known as the Aspen Latex mattress, says they are “comfortable by nature”. Does this natural mattress deliver as much comfort as a conventional mattress? Find out why DreamFoam’s Aspen (Elements) Latex is my absolute favorite mattress and our top pick at Sustainable Slumber for environmental certifications and excellent value! Most eco-friendly mattresses that contain latex cost thousands of dollars. However, this Dreamfoam mattress starts at 399, minus the discounts they regularly offer. In addition, they offer an upgrade of a pillow top for extra luxury.

You will like the Elements/Aspen Latex mattress if:

-You want to choose your level of firmness instead of a one-size-fits-all approach

-You are an eco-minded consumer

-You are looking for a natural night’s sleep but you are on a strict budget

Overall Impressions

The Elements Latex is an excellent choice for any sleeper since you are order it in firm, medium or soft. Such customizable options are rarely available in a mattress at this reasonable price point! Side sleepers will find the soft mattress to be a good fit, while back and stomach sleepers will prefer the medium or firm option. As a side sleeper, I am very sensitive to pressure in my hips and the Aspen Latex offered good pressure relief; I did not wake up with any pain in the morning like I often do. The Aspen Latex is a very environmentally-friendly option since it has a whopping three inches of Talalay latex certified by Oeko-Tex.

Construction

The base of this 10 inch mattress is six inches of high-density support foam, followed by 3 inches of talalay latex. These layers are then covered by a polyester knit top that is quilted with a bit of soft foam for extra comfort.

Motion Transfer

I slept on this mattress next to my husband and the motion transfer was very minimal. I did not feel any movement while I was asleep, and I am a light sleeper.

Off-Gassing

I smelled absolutely no off-gassing when I opened this mattress and this is probably due to the fact that the materials used in this mattress are very eco-friendly.

Edge Support

The Aspen Latex offers pretty good edge support; when I sat directly on the edge of the mattress, it did compress. However, when laying on the mattress, there was no compression and you will find that you can use the entire surface of the mattress for sleeping.

Does it Sleep Hot?

The Aspen Latex slept quite cool due even though it was not specifically engineered for coolness. Many mattresses that focus on sleeping cool do so because of special gels that are put into the top layer of the mattress. This mattress’s focus on natural materials means it does not contain these cooling agents.

Their Legendary Latex Pillow

For my birthday this year, I am asking for ten more of these pillows! They are constantly being stolen off my bed because they are so fantastic. If you are purchasing a mattress from DreamFoam, do yourself a favor and buy this pillow, too!  I have slept on many different pillows and I can say with complete confidence that their latex pillow truly is #thebestpillowever. Latex is a remarkable product; it starts its life as the sap of a rubber tree. It is harvested from a tree in the same way maple syrup is. This rubber tree sap is then frothed, baked and washed. This results in a soft, bouncy, material that is absolutely wonderful as a pillow. This pillow literally bounces when thrown to the floor. Your head sinks into the pillow, yet the rest of the pillow stays elevated so it makes you feel like your head is being cradled. You will not regret purchasing this pillow!

Don’t Just Take My Word for It

The Aspen/Elements Latex mattress has many rave reviews from their consumers, including a sentiment I can really identify with:

“Green mattress, AMAZING service, customized softness!”
